Another awesome regional CISV experience is approaching fast! The regional mini camp is run by the JB presidents from all over the east coast. It will be St. Patricks day weekend (March 16-18) and at Camp Bernie, just outside of New York City. Be sure to mark these days on your calendar and get ready for an amazing CISV weekend. The pre-camp containing the theme and more information will be released soon. Don't forget to save the date!

We have just been offered a Seminar Position in Honduras. This is for a 17 or 18 year old male. Seminar allows young people to explore intercultural issues in a regional context. The program is planned and executed by the participants- there is an international staff but no leaders. Seminar reinforces core CISV values, builds leadership and organizational skills, while promoting continued CISV involvement.

Last Saturday the JB baked dozens and dozens of cookies. They have all been wrapped and delivered to the USO at Barnes Air Force Base. It was fun to gather for such a worthwhile cause and to meet some new friends.

We are excited to announce our first annual Mini Camp!

Mini Camp objective: To educate and inspire residents of Hamden County for peace and justice in our community through the use of CISV educational content.

Dates: 12/27/11 - 12/29/11

Registration 4:00- 6:00 on 12/27

Pick up 11:00 on 12/29. Late pick up arrangements can be made when reserving a spot

Ages- 10-13 This is the age group that will be the main focus. Recruitment will be focused on this age.
14-17 If people register in this age group they could be separated for group discussions. This age group is included so as not to exclude current members of the JB that are interested in attending.

Who is invited: All residents of Hamden County ages 10-17. We will also invite one delegation from a neighboring CISV chapter such as Philadelphia.

Cost: $80 per person. There will be a sliding scale of discount based on need for residents of Hamden County. If a grant request from the Community Foundation is received we can be more generous with discounts.

Total Capacity: 40 participants and 10 staff/chaperones. What to Bring:

• air mattress or portable cot
• Sleeping bag
• Clothing for two days
• Toiletries
• Towel
• Flip flops for showering
• Positive attitude and CISV spirit

What NOT to bring:
• Valuables
• Cell phones
• Ipods
• Any personal electronics
